Count down to the start of school together with your child. Not only for when it's your child's very first day of school but also ideal after a long break.
 
Stick a sticker in the box each day or tick the box.
 
You can choose to count down 7 or 14 days in advance. For younger children, I would start counting down no more than a week in advance.
